Indeco, innovative responses to a
continuously changing global market
Indeco ind S.p.a. is the only “family-run” company
among the worldwide leaders in the production
and sale of hydraulic equipment for earthmoving,
demolition and recycling.
All of its largest direct competitors are “divisions
of large European or Japanese multinational
groups”.Indeco is also the only company among its
competitors not to have made any changes to its
corporate structure since its founding, despite having
experienced a difficult historical period affected by
a deep-seated crisis within the market structure.
Indeco products have and will be the subject of many
important innovations:
• the perfection of the hydraulic system on all
hammers to offer users even more tangible
economic benefits;
• the technological upgrading and constructive
improvement of the majority of catalogue products,
based on specific market requests;
• the amplification and rationalisation of the entire
current range with the introduction of new
products intended for the broadest fields of
application: from recycling to material handling,
from loading to forestry handling.
Indeco will continue to focus on the success
of the global market in the near future, sticking
to its path consisting in all but relocations and
pricing policies with the consequent lowering of
technological standards and product quality,
and the resizing of the after-sales service, seeking
instead to increase its offer of products,
technological content and level of services,
maintaining the ability to perceive and anticipate
client and market demands.
Indeco ind S.p.a., an Italian manufacturer of
hydraulic hammers, was founded in 1976 by
partners Vitulano, Santoro and Carabellese, still
shareholders to this day, and immediately set itself a
clear objective, to promptly and effectively respond
to market demands, focusing on a capillary sales and
after-sales network, and the expertise of its design
and development department. A philosophy that
ensured the company’s international development,
initially as a supplier of non-original spare parts for
hammers. In 1980, following the development of
the first HB 27 hydraulic hammer prototype, quickly
followed by the other models in the HB series, Indeco
quickly rose to become a world-leading brand in the
demolition sector, competing with a selective group of
high-level competitors. Its commitment to searching
for a product that could offer users greater benefits
in terms of production, output, service life, ease-of-
maintenance and management costs, eventually
led the company in 1986 to patent the first “Smart
Hammer”, able to modulate the frequency and
power of each impact stroke based on the hardness
of the rock. Thus the MES hydraulic hammer series
was born, a milestone for product innovation in this
sector. In 1996, on occasion of its 20th anniversary
and by virtue of the excellent results achieved in the
field of technological innovation, Indeco received
the “SaMoTer Innovation Award” in the Machinery
Builders category. Since 2000, Indeco has consistently
responded to a progressively differentiated market in
search of increasingly specialised products, expanding
its product portfolio to include new equipment
enriched by the company’s technological expertise
gained in the manufacture of hammers.
Products range
•
as of 2000, the series currently known as the IMP
multiprocessor, designed to ensure maximum
versatility and able to handle a variety of different
jobsite applications for demolition and recycling,
using the same carrier in different configurations by
changing the jawsets (Hammer, Pulverizer, Combi
and Shear versions, whereby the latter is used to
demolish constructions made from ferrous
material);
•
In 2004, the new HP High Performance hammer
series was launched, featuring a new design, revised
materials and reduced noise emissions. Continuous
product improvements in order to satisfy the
broadest range of differing operator needs, means
the Indeco range is today the absolute most
extensive, featuring 23 models with roughly 50
different combinations. In 2008, Indeco broke all
records, developing for the second time in the
history of demolition, the largest hydraulic hammer
in the world. The Indeco HP 18000 hammer is truly
extraordinary in terms of size and performance,
making it the perfect tool for large earthworks,
quarries and particularly hard rock. From the height
of its 4.6 metres and weighing an impressive
11,050 kg, it is able to apply - on a tool with a
250 mm diameter - a destructive force not even
remotely comparable to that of any other hammer
available on the market.
In the meantime, the horizontal extension of the Indeco
range continued with new products such as:
•
in 2006 the IHC hydraulic compactors were
introduced, produced in Indeco’s US manufacturing
facilities in replacement of traditional manual
compacting equipment, satisfying the need to
combine a high compacting capacity with speed
and safety on the jobsite;
•
the year 2003 saw the introduction of the IFP and
IRP respectively fixed and rotating hydraulic
pulverizers. The former, perfect for the secondary
demolition of materials and structures in reinforced
concrete and their relative recycling by separating
the steel rods from the concrete.
The latter, specifically designed for the primary
demolition of buildings, vertical structures, retaining
walls and slabs. Both are the result of Indeco’s highly
advanced technological expertise;
•
in 2011, after years of custom production, the new
IBS Boom System, a series of fixed positioning
booms, was added to the catalogue. Unique to
the market, designed and built in accordance with
the high standards of excavator booms, these tools
have a positive impact on production logistics and
more generally on production, in quarries and
mines.
Mounted near the mouths of the crushers, they are
used to reduce large boulders that may otherwise
slow down production, thus guaranteeing
continuity in safe conditions;
•
the first ISS hydraulic shears arrived in 2010.
Indispensable tools for those who work in the
scrapping and recycling sectors, the Indeco
ISS shears stood out for their innovative design,
extraordinary strength and leading-edge technical
solutions that significantly enhanced their
performance. Indeco’s hydraulic shears quickly
became the object of international demand, almost
immediately becoming a technological point of
reference in the sector;
• in 2012, the IMG multigrabs were introduced.
Once again, Indeco innovated a product that
already existed on the market, proposing a series of
equipment designed and developed with its own
extremely high standards and intended for use
in the broadest range of sectors.
The machine body in its various sizes is coupled
with 5 different jawset versions (Screening,
Demolition, Loading, Material Handling and
Forestry) for a range of uses including:
material screening and light demolition,
earthmoving, recycling and storage of ferrous
materials, rock, soil and construction material
handling in general, log and wood material forestry
handling in general;
• in 2019 Indeco introduced the new line of IMH
hydraulic mulching heads, powerful equipment
produced in Indeco’s US manufacturing facilities,
between Connecticut and New Hampshire,
designed specifically to transform excavators and
skid steers into extreme clearance tools able to cut
and remove vegetation, thus significantly reducing
work costs and times. From deforestation to site
preparation, from managing invasive plant species
to clearing storm damage, and even cleaning
operations, IMH mulchers can perform the broadest
range of tasks, replacing an entire team of operators.
They also allow the re-introduction to the
ecosystem of unwanted vegetation in the form of
mulch, a decidedly more ecological alternative
compared to burning-off.
• Also in 2022, Indeco is among the first attachment
manufacturers to embrace digital transformation
and 4.0 technology with the new “Indeconnect”
remote monitoring system based on the principles
of the Internet of Things. Through a device mounted
on the various equipment, supplied with 4G
technology for wireless interconnection to the network
and a cloud-based web platform accessible from
mobile (via app) or PC, the system allows you to consult
the data transmitted in real time by each device
installed, to see hours of work done, working position
in space, hydraulic oil temperature, ambient
temperature, GPS location and so on. This makes it
possible to monitor productivity, control the
operation of equipment, increase safety, predict and
plan maintenance, and manage any rented equipment.
• In 2022 a new line of equipment has been created.
It is designed for a specific use connected to the
transition from traditional to high-speed rail
networks, in place in the most industrialized
countries. These are the IRC series rail breakers
specially designed for cutting railway, tramway and
metro rails. The particular design of the jaws,
combined with the efficiency of the hydraulic
system and the robustness of the machine body in
special HARDOX® steel, allow the cutting of rails up
to 75 kg of mass per metre, with hardness up
to 300 Brinell.
Indeco’s ability to set and achieve ambitious goals over
the years is also thanks to the increasingly capillary
organisation of its sales network. The company can rely
on stable relationships throughout most of Europe, in
particular France, Spain, Portugal, Germany and the UK,
while also being the Italian leader with a market share
of roughly 20%.
The special attention afforded to the North European
market has materialised in the creation of Indeco
Northern Europe in the Netherlands, and the
subsequent opening of Indeco Deutschland, the
point of reference for the German market.
The American market has been overseen since 1990
by Indeco Nord America. This important subsidiary,
with headquarters in Connecticut, is responsible
for the promotion, sale and servicing of Indeco
products in the US, Canada, Central America and part
of South America, with a network of more than 50
dealers, with 5 other points of service and support
to the distribution network, employing warehouse
and machine shop technical personnel. The North
American Indeco facilities are also where the IHC
compactors and IMH mulching heads are produced.
Founded in 1992, Indeco Australia, with two offices
in Melbourne and Sydney and a network of dealers
in other regions, is today the market leader with a
share of more than 30%. As at today, Indeco Australia
is the only organisation in the local market directly
connected to the manufacturer, able to offer a sales
and after-sales service at a level comparable to that of
the parent company itself.
Indeco UK was founded in 1998 based on the
invaluable 20-year experience previously acquired
by the historic local Indeco importer. Indeco UK has
significantly contributed to the existing distribution
Sales network
network, a capillary group of dealers specialised in
hiring, sales, assistance and consultancy in the field
of hydraulic accessories, consolidating the company’s
market leadership throughout the country.
In 2009, Indeco strengthened its presence throughout
Eastern Europe with the establishment of a sales office
in Russia, Indeco Russia, in order to better support the
distribution network throughout the CIS territory.
Indeco Mexico, founded in 2011 and controlled by
Indeco North America, deals with sales and after-
sales services throughout the entire Central American
country, where it quickly achieved the same capillarity
and sales volumes as the market leader.
The important long-standing presence in the Brazilian
market was further strengthened by the establishment,
at the start of 2017, of Indeco Brasile, similarly at the
service of a capillary dealer network and constantly
growing number of clients.
In 2022 Equipment World opened in Singapore,,
becoming a point of reference for the Chinese and
South East Asian markets.
Recently established the organization dedicated to the
important but difficult Japanese market, soon destined
to become Indeco Japan.
Indeco also boasts consolidated commercial
partnerships in countries such as India, where it is
currently experiencing strong growth also thanks to its
collaboration with various local partners.
In most emerging markets such as Africa and the
Middle East, where Indeco, through its products and
network of dealers, collaborates in the development of
some of the most important infrastructural works.
The entire South American market, with a particular
focus on Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, but also
Chile, Peru and Colombia.
